10 Simple Rules for Protecting Yourself Against Property Crime

  1. Always lock your doors– house and vehicle.
  2. Keep the perimeter of your home well lit.
  3. Have a neighbor or friend watch your home if your away for extended periods and request to be added to the Goodyear Police Vacation Watch List.
  4. Notify police if you see suspicious vehicles or people in your neighborhood.
  5. Get to know your neighbors.
  6. Never leave your vehicle running unattended, even for a few moments.
  7. Vehicles are not a secure place for valuables– always bring valuables inside.
  8. Try to park your vehicles where they are safest– in the garage if possible, or in well lit areas.
  9. Remember that thieves like easy targets– if you deny them an easy target, they will usually go somewhere else.
  10. Write down serial numbers for expensive items including VIN and license plate numbers for your vehicles in the event they are stolen.


How late can my
child stay out at night?

If you are 15 or under you must be home by 10:00PM.
If you are 16 or 17 you must be home by 12:00AM.

What do I do when an Emergency Vehicle is behind me (Police, Fire, Ambulance)?

Carefully pull to the RIGHT side of the roadway and stop the your car until the Emergency Vehicle passes you.
